About the BEHAVES Academy team

Our founder, Shelley, is a hybrid communications-strategist-turned-behavioural-scientist, with a bit of instructional design experience thrown in as well. And she’s not alone – on our team, we all seem to love to turn our hands to acquiring and collecting lots of skills. One of our big strengths as a team is that we bring the following three strands together:

  1. we are behavioural scientists
  2. we know the world of change, comms and design
  3. we are learning design experts

After completing her master’s degree in behavioural science, Shelley really wanted to find a way to share what she learned in an accessible way. In fact, our mission at the BEHAVES Academy is to share our passion for behavioural science with anyone who’s interested (including you, maybe?).

That’s why we built the BEHAVES Academy: we wanted to make behavioural psychology less lofty and theoretical, and more pragmatic. We wanted to put it in the hands of everyone – but especially those we’ve worked with most in our other work: namely, those working in change and communications.

Our reviews

We think we’ve done a good job in creating practical, self-directed applied Behavioural Science training. But don’t take our word for it, take a look at our client reviews.

I’m interested in Behavioural Science and have done several courses – but this one was the best at offering a guided application of the science. While the others were interesting, they didn’t offer such a great range of memorable examples, interactive games and guided opportunities to test your learning. Module 5 - when you get to be a behavioural consultant - was my favourite part. Plus, you get a handbook, which means you can keep referring back to what you learned when you need to.

I found the visuals very crisp, clear and well-organised. The examples were great, especially - in module 1 of anchoring, the Tesco text and reciprocity and in module 2 the examples of each category - feelings, incentives, messages, etc. It is very thought-provoking and practical, and it became more so as I progressed through the modules. It is simple, well-organised and makes the science very accessible.

I've gone through the BEHAVES Academy and I have to say, I'm really impressed. It's clear, precise and a brilliant tool. You've taken something academic and actually applied it. It really is great to have all that juicy psychology in one place.

Fiona Parker-ColeBehavioural Psychologist & Founder at The Redress

I really, really enjoyed this course, especially how interactive and fun it is. It’s really made me think differently. I've always been interested in psychology and this has re-awakened my interest! I'm looking forward to finding ways to use what I've learned when I'm tackling change problems in my work.

I have completed a couple of the BEHAVES modules and I think they are very good and I could see them being genuinely useful. The content, graphics and voiceover are excellent. I also like the interactive games in each section.

Jim SimpsonManaging Director, Ziptech Services

The graphics/ animation and voice overs are very good, and the examples are excellent. The more quirky stuff really sticks and you feel like you are a master!

Brett Lotriet BestCEO, Global Fan Network

I really enjoyed this course. The visuals were captivating and kept the learning experience engaging. More importantly, it struck a good balance between language and content, allowing me to focus on understanding the material without getting bogged down by interpretation. Overall, it switched back on my hunger for behavioural science!

BEHAVES is a really easy to digest course that helps simplify behavioural science in a practical way. It is excellent both for an individual wanting to understand more and get a usable introduction to behavioural science but also has great value for any business navigating a period of change – giving a team a solid framework to work within and a common language to discuss issues is hugely beneficial.
